Pruning for the health of the tree is different from just removing hazardous branches. Pruning for the health of the tree encourages a healthy growth structure for the tree, reducing weight by removing overgrowth, and removes dead limbs so that the tree can compartmentalize which helps keep disease out. On this tree we didn't only remove the lower branches, but also removed all the dead and removed several branches inside the canopy that were growing into other branches causing them to rub and create damage.
